July 2021 - Present

Associate professor of phonology & phonetics, Tafila Technical University, Jordan

Dr Zainab Sa’aida is a distinguished linguist and phonologist who has a passion for languages, cultures, fine art, and documentary. She has devoted most of her time exploring phonological and morphological processes in the speech of various social groups. She is interested in phonology, phonetics and speech, morphology, dialectology, anthropological linguistics, syntax and language documentation.

March 2016 - July 2021

Assistant professor of phonology & phonetics, Tafila Technical University, Jordan

Dr Sa’aida taught several courses in linguistics, phonetics, phonology, morphology, semantics, syntax, comparative linguistics, pronunciation and speech, teaching methods, advanced grammar, translation, advanced reading, advanced writing, listening and speaking. She worked on designing a phonetics laboratory in her department. She volunteered to run  several training courses of English four skills of speaking, listening, writing and reading besides grammar in her department. She has been a member of the following committees and councils at TTU:

  • A member of the local arrangements committee for organising ongoing conferences in her department.

  • A member of the committee working on developing the study plan and courses description in the English department.

  • A chief member of the coordination of the computerised English course E99 committee.

  • A member of the committee working on the project of the phonetics lab at TTU.

  • A member of the committee working on bringing up-to-date and translating the web page of TTU on Wikipedia.

  • A member of the social committee in the English department.

  • A member of the committee working on investigating with students at the university.

  • A member of the study schedule committee.

  • A member of the faculty of arts council.

  • A member of Tafila technical university council.

  • A chief member of the invigilation committee at the university of Leeds, UK.

  • A member of Tafila construction council in Tafila, Jordan.

September 2007 – October 2011

Lecturer (Master’s degree holder) in linguistics, Tafila Technical University, Jordan

She taught several courses in linguistics, translation, advanced grammar, syntax, and advanced English skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. She worked as an advisor for second and third year students in the department of English. She worked on developing English study plan in the department. She was in charge for co-ordinating and organising computerised examinations of English.
